Traits

Crystalline Body. Critical Hits against the Salt Weaver count as normal hits (the crystal disperses the blow).

Desiccating Aura. Every enemy who ends its turn within 10 feet of the Salt Weaver makes a DC 13 Constitution save. Failure: Takes 4 (1d8) Necrotic damage (its moisture is drawn out).

Actions

Multiattack. Uses one Salt Shard and one Crystallize.

Salt Shard. Ranged Attack Roll: +5, range 60 ft. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 3) Piercing damage.

Crystallize. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 13, one creature the Salt Weaver can see within 60 feet.

  • Failure: Salt crystals grow on the target's body. The target becomes Restrained (escape DC 13, Strength check). Additionally, while it remains Restrained, it takes 5 (2d4) Necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns.
  • Success: The target's Speed is reduced by 10 feet (until the end of its next turn).

Salt Pillar (Recharge 5–6). The Salt Weaver raises a giant pillar of salt at a point it can see within 60 feet. A pillar 10 feet in radius, 20 feet tall. Every creature in that area makes a DC 13 Dexterity save.

  • Failure: 18 (4d8) Bludgeoning damage and pushed 10 feet sideways.
  • Success: Half damage, not pushed.

The pillar provides Total Cover. It has AC 13, HP 40, and has Vulnerability to Thunder damage.

The Salt Weaver can maintain at most three pillars at once.

How to Use

The Salt Weaver is the desert version of the Bone Weaver (CR 3) — but more aggressive. It both builds walls and locks down a target.

Crystallize is critical: it makes a character Restrained and deals ongoing damage. Escaping requires a Strength check — this is very hard for a Wizard/Sorcerer.

Salt Pillar builds geography: the party is split, cover is taken, range is cut off.

Combination:

Salt Weaver (Controller) + Bulwark Golem (Soldier) — together they build a fortress.

The Golem holds the line, the Salt Weaver raises pillars from behind and crystallizes characters. The party never advances.

How the party wins: The pillars are weak to ThunderThunderwave, Shatter. And the Salt Weaver's HP is low (88) — it drops fast if they can reach it. The problem is reaching it.
